Delivering a World Class Heartland, 16 July, University of Hertfordshire

England's Economic Heartland is holding a free one-day conference to mark the launch of its Outline Transport Strategy, which takes place at the University of Hertfordshire on 16 July.

Organised in collaboration with Highways UK, the event offers the first opportunity to examine the principles and drivers for the Heartland's transport ambitions that are set to influence the infrastructure investment decisions in the region over the next three decades.

In addition to hearing first hand from the policy makers behind the strategy, delegates will have an opportunity to debate the opportunities and better understand the challenges with a range of stakeholders from local and central government politicians to delivery partners and business leaders.

And it's not just about the long-term thinking, delegates will be updated on the Heartland's progress to becoming a Sub-national Transport Body, its immediate infrastructure investment priorities ahead of the autumn's Comprehensive Spending Review and a session dedicated to the Heartland's proposals for a Major Roads Network.

The event is by invitation, but please reply to Dima.Boulos@Highways-uk.com if you would like to put your name forward for a place... And hold the date, 16 July.

More about England's Economic Heartland

England's Economic Heartland's is the strategic transport partnership for an area covering over 5.1million people and nearly 300,000 businesses. It brings together local authorities and Local Enterprise Partnerships stretching from Swindon in the west to Cambridgeshire in the east and also encompassing Hertfordshire, acting as a gateway to London and the wider South East of England.

Its over-riding objective is unlocking the region's economic growth potential through improvements in the strategic infrastructure of the Heartland area, which the Government recognises as a national priority.

The full conference programme will be released soon, click here for the main themes.
